Dhaka Stock Exchange, CSE down at opening


The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed downward trend in early hour of trading on Sunday with choppy trading, the first trading day of the week.

After the first 30 minutes of the day’s trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 14.38 points or 0.29 per cent to at 4,842.58, when the report was filed at 11:00am. The two other induces also saw negative trend.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips lost 5.61 points or 0.30 per cent to at 1,845.65.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 3.13 points or 0.26 per cent to stand at 1,178.99. DSE turnover stood at only Tk446 million when the report was filed. Of the issues traded till then, 60 advanced, 108 declined and 48 remained unchanged.

Saif Powertec was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk35 million changing hands followed by Far Chemical, Emerald Oil, Quasem Dryclles and ACI Ltd. The port city bourse – the CSE also saw downward trend with its Selective Category Index — CSCX – losing 16.86 points to stand at 9,031.10, also at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 16 gained, 52 declined and 18 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk20 million.
