Dhaka: The president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist (BFUJ) Altaf Mahmud has died two days after he underwent a major surgery. He was 65.
He breathed his last around 8:45 am on Sunday at the capital`s Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital where he was admitted after being affected of neurological disorder on January 14.
He is survived by wife, one son, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
BFUJ General Secretary confirmed the news to newsbd71.com. “The namaj-e-janaza of the senior journalist would be held at the National Press Club Premises around 12 pm,” he added.
President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have expressed profound shock at the death of Altaf Mahmud and also conveyed their sympathy to the bereaved family members.
